OCT. 10, 2 - 4pm
St. Andrews United Church Hall, 315 Fitzwilliam St.
(Flash Mob location to be revealed)
Come learn beautiful harmonies to The Judds’ iconic “Love Can Build A Bridge” — a powerful song about love, hope, and our capacity to come together across our differences.
We’ll start with a fun 2-hour harmony workshop, learning the three-part harmonies by ear (no sheet music), and then take our voices to the streets for a FLASH MOB in downtown Nanaimo!
Note: the flash mob is optional; you can just come to the workshop.
Why a flash mob? Because the world needs more love — and more singing in public about it! Let’s surprise some unsuspecting Nanaimo folks with a big dose of harmony, joy and unity.
What inspired this? On October 30, I’ll be singing backup harmonies in the Love Can Build A Bridge: Judds/Wynonna Tribute at the Port Theatre, featuring Jona Kristinsson — who will be joining us as our special guest for this workshop and flash mob!
This event is separate from the October 30 tribute concert, but you can get tickets for that show here.
All voices are welcome and belong.
Suggested donation: $10–20
(cash in person or e-transfer to sylvia@sylviahumble.ca; please note the workshop date in your e-transfer)
WHAT TO EXPECT
No advance practice is expected. We’ll learn the three harmony parts by ear during the workshop and get comfortable with the whole song, with Jona singing lead.
Recordings of all three parts will be provided ahead of time if you’d like to listen or practise — totally optional!
THEN, WE’LL TAKE IT TO THE STREETS!
After the workshop, we’ll walk to (or meet at) an undisclosed downtown location and sing the song in public, flash-mob style.
Flashmob is optional - you can just come for the workshop experience.
