Let’s give the returning sun a warm welcome in song, as we raise and weave our voices together in harmony!

Learn songs celebrating the returning light in the new year, songs to lift the spirit, by songwriters such as Melanie Demore, Sarina Partridge, Coco Love Alcorn, “Here Comes The Sun” by the Beatles, and more. The workshop is two hours, with a break for ginger tea; connect with others who love to sing!

All songs are taught by ear in the oral tradition, by call and response, without sheet music. Some songs are simple to learn and create our own “organic” harmonies, and others have 3 or 4 harmony parts, all taught by ear; parts are easy to learn and accessible to all voices. Creativity and movement are encouraged; there are no “wrong notes” and our aim is joy and connection, not perfection.

All voices are welcome, whether you are a shy beginner or a confident chorister. Experience the magic of community singing, in harmony, imperfectly!

Sylvia is the founder of Humble Harmony, a fun and informal community singing group (with weekly groups in Nanaimo and Parksville). She is a member of the Ubuntu Choirs Network (founded by the infamous Gettin’ Higher Choir” in Victoria), which believes that singing together is a universal birthright, and that we can make a positive difference in the world through song.
