To celebrate the end of our “early fall” season of Humble Harmony, we’re having a BIG SING on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Oliver Woods Community Centre (North Nanaimo) from 3:30 - 5:00, followed by potluck! It's for everyone from my Nanaimo and Parksville groups to come together and sing the songs we’ve been learning - and friends / family (or anyone!) are welcome to join us. It's not a concert, it's a community sing... but listeners are welcome too. My co-conspirator April Laurie (who co-leads our Nanaimo evening group) will lead us in a playful warmup and improvised circle song! By Donation. All proceeds to support Kayalitsha Youth Choir near Capetown, South Africa (run by Isaac Skiti, the composer of a song we have been singing called “Thongo Lam”). I hope you can make it! No need to RSVP - just show up if you can!
Song Circle: 3:30 - 5:00pm
Potluck: 5:00- 6:00pm
Bring a snack or dish to share in the potluck afterwards if you’d like to join us! And if you can, bring your own dishes and cutlery, and water to drink (we will have extras). We’ll have access to a full kitchen, but no dishes.
Humble Harmony is a proud member of the Ubuntu Choirs Network which shares the belief that singing is our human birthright. All voices are welcome: it's about connection, not perfection.
Also coming up: drop in to one of my three groups for an OPEN HOUSE on Oct. 27/28 in Nanaimo or 30th in Parksville - come sing for the joy, and experience the magic of community singing in three- and four-part harmony, with room for creativity and movement!
